Tupa Tomato Garden
"Tupa" means great grandmother in the nsyilxcen language.
This garden is named after the late syilx artist Marsha King, the name Tupa Tomato is a name she was known as by her first great grand child. The Tupa Tomato Garden offers a variety of hügelkultur and box garden beds enriched with compatible plant life to strengthen growth, improve nutrients, and reduce water waste.
The Tupa Tomato Garden is an outdoor learning space designed for year around uses.
Tupa Tomato Garden is a rare location that offers community and visitors an opportunity to interact with local Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, Artists, from syilx nation and abroad territories.
Local artisans, harvesters, growers and entrepreneurs are also encouraged to utilize the Tupa Tomato Garden in sharing our common wealth and adoration of outdoor knowledge.
